Well I finally got an EeePC, after leaving my old job (hooray!) I no longer had a laptop to use on the road, except for our old HP that we lovingly named "Fatty". Since I am doing computer service work for people, having a laptop with me is a huge time saver and convenience. I didn't want to spend more money on a laptop than I would be able to quickly recover so I thought an EeePC would be perfect. I spent lots of time on my favorite online store (it might be newegg...) looking at all of the netbooks and user reviews and decided on the EeePC 1000HE.

I picked the 1000HE over the others because of four five main features:

1. Windows XP (I plan to dual boot with Ubuntu but wanted a XP license too)
2. Bluetooth
3. Multi-touch, touch pad
4. Extremely high battery life
5. Oh and Price ;-)

The first thing I did when I fired the Eee up was remove the Windows Live stuff, that was the only software on there that I did not want. So the Eee scores big for its lack of bloatware.

The next thing was to install my favorite software and customize Windows to not be as ugly. I installed Logon Studio from Stardock.com and used a UXtheme patcher so I could use custom themes. I created my own logon theme using one of the included EeePC backgrounds and some of the buttons and images from this theme. I chose Nion 3 from Lassekongo83 on Deviantart.com for my Windows theme. The background is from from xxoblivionxx from Wallpapers-room.com.

I am so glad that I picked this Netbook, the size and features are excellent and I love not be tied to a power chord. So far I have only got the battery down to about 30% which estimates the run time at about 3 more hours after running for about 4 hours straight. I haven't timed the battery yet, but I would guess I would get about 6.5 hours of constant moderate use with the brightness at 100%. Can't complain about that!
